Christies Direct are one of the leading pet grooming suppliers in the world, and we currently export to more than 40 countries worldwide. We develop and sell some of the leading pet grooming brands in the market. We are currently implementing our European expansion plan with our new distribution centre in Belgium, as well as driving growth through our websites and online marketplaces. Our goal is to better serve our European customers with a wider product range and faster delivery times.


With this in mind, we currently have an opportunity for an experienced Purchasing administrator to join our procurement team to ensure that our inventory levels are at the level required to deliver our plans. You will be part of a dynamic team using the latest technology to reach these objectives.

The purchasing team liaise with suppliers in UK, Europe, Far East and USA, negotiating terms, promotional support, and more.  Once a product has been listed in our catalogue or online, the purchasing team monitors its success, forecasts based on the sales and orders to ensure there is stock for the sales team to sell.  The team provide a high level of support to the Purchasing Manager to achieve internal stock objectives. 

Purchasing experience in a fast-moving business is essential, as well as an enthusiastic attitude and a desire to work in a truly international business based in Northern Ireland.


Duties will include but are not limited to:

Negotiating with suppliers and placing Purchase Orders.

Maintaining product details on our bespoke system – setting up new products and keeping details current, i.e., updating Bill of Materials.

Arranging imports (through the TSS portal) and checking duty.

Following up on invoice queries.

Analysing purchasing data & preparing reports for management team.

Hitting Team focussed KPI’s

Planning Promotion Calendar & providing feedback on promotion success.

Some travel may be required for the role (Trade Shows in the UK and Overseas).

Ad-hoc duties as advised by the Purchasing Manager.

Essential Criteria

GCSE Maths & English A-C or Equivalent

Minimum 6months previous experience within a purchasing team.

Proven IT Skills – Including Office (Outlook and Excel are essential) and Office365, Teams.

Ability to demonstrate organisational and numerical skills.

Strong communication and presentation skills, both written and oral.

Ability to work as part of a team.

Desirable Criteria

 Proven success in negotiating with suppliers.
